Happy Pi Day!

We celebrated Pi Day in style. We used our special Pi pie plates.

Our pi pie plates sat on our handmade pi tablecloth.

Now let’s talk about the best part of Pi Day; the pie. I made all sorts of miniature pies. Miniature pies are so much more fun to eat than slices of pie. Miniature pies also made it easier to try all the different types of pies. Can you imagine trying to eat half a dozen slices of pie?

We had miniature blueberry, cherry and lemon meringue pies for our fruit pies.

There were Reese’s Peanut Butter cup pies topped with miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter cups.

For savory pies we had chicken pot pie and shepherd’s pie.

And of course pizza pie. There was pepperoni pizza and tomato basil pizza.

I saved the best for last. Everybody’s favorite pie was the Cafe au lait pie.

The recipe can be found here.  I created this pie especially for my 13 year old. The one type of pie he asked for was a coffee pie. You have to try this pie. It is so good it will make your eyes roll back in your head and you’ll forget about everything but coffee pie.
