We have a bonus child that has been living with us for about a year and a half to two years. So I’m a little short on room. Eventually I’ll be able to shuffle bedrooms around and get my crafting room. Just not anytime in the next month.
I had been storing my yarn in laundry baskets. And on the floor next to them. And under the dresser. And in a backpack. I’m sure you’re getting the picture.
I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that’s going to be temporary. My husband wanted it more organized.
This is what we came up with. The bins came from Menards. I have a few finished projects, my current wip and tools in the top bin. The yarn is organized in a way that makes sense to me. I can just glance at it and see what I have. Because the bins have depth they are all stacked several skeins deep.
It’s not pretty but it is functional, was reasonably priced, and I can live with it until I get a permanent space to set up how I like.
Anything filled with skeins of yarn is the most beautiful thing ever!!! I have over stuffed my yarn storage cabinet and the skeins have spilled over into covered plastic bins, the cardboard box that 9 skeins were shipped to me in, a few plastic grocery bags on the kitchen table, side table, and end table, and my pantry/storage closet…… and nobody better touch it!!! 😀

I’m trying to crochet faster than I’m buying it. Ha. And now I started October’s blanket for some reason. So I’ll need the rest of the yarn for that.

Constantly growing yarn collection, lack of storage space, and complaining husbands seems to be a very common problem for any crocheter/knitter…. but his stuff taking up most of the attic is nothing we should complain about…. 😀

Mine doesn’t care about the yarn. He likes the things I make. He even weaves my ends in.
