I’m going to start this by saying that I love my annual pass. There’s a bit of a story behind how I got it. Bear with me.
My husband and I help our son run his gourmet fusion egg roll business. He sells mostly at farmers markets. That means every Saturday during market season we are up and out of the house before 7am to load up gear, drive to the market and set up, rain or shine.
He went out of town with his girlfriend and missed two Saturdays. He works hard. He is entitled to a vacation. That did mean my husband and I were on our own for those two Saturdays. Well guess what? We decided we needed a vacation too!
So I found a great airfare sale and we were off to Orlando. He stayed with the younger boys.
The first day we had a great time wandering around Disney Springs. The next day we went to our first park. The first park we went to was the Magic Kingdom. We had fun but were sadly underwhelmed. I grew up 20 minutes from Disneyland. That could be why.
The next day we went to City Walk. The official plan was to wander around and buy our Universal ticket for the next day. I had already downloaded the Universal app and favorited everything we wanted to do. I knew there was no possible way we could do it all in one day.
I looked at prices for different passes and had a brilliant idea. We should just buy annual passes and go right in. Then we could also come back and bring all the kids. That’s what we did. The next day we spent a full day at Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. The final day, we checked out of our hotel and then spent one last morning at Universal and Islands before we had to leave for the airport to catch our flight home.
We went back again last fall with a friend. Then in January we took all the kids. My sister, brother in law, niece, and my parents all went with us in January.
Next week my husband and I are going back again for a several day date. Our eldest has agreed to stay with the youngest two and the dog. This time we’re thinking about catching a showing of Blue Man Group.
